About me
Rob is a Swiss American Photographer based in Zurich capturing or creating moments on film (analog)
I studied photography alongside my more natural sciences university degree. And then dropped it. Years went by. Three years ago I began to see the world anew and started taking pictures again. In the photographs here, the impression is of indirect images, shadows and reflections. or People going about their lives. The true nature of objects is only limited by our perceptions. And all thoughts are mere interpretations of memory. Hence the indirect image capture shown in some of the photographs shared here. Or just instant observations of the world around us.
I shoot using various cell phones, and film cameras including: nikon FE, Canon A1, and for medium format film, my Hasselblad.

As for painting, one morning in April 2018 when, on waking I felt a need to duplicate a color I'd seen on a painting while visiting the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with a friend. With no training in painting or mixing colors, and after a more than 20 year career in finance my 'New Expressionism' was born. In these works I go from using geometric shapes to fill colors and space, to the more fantastical using only primary colors (plus black and white) as base colors. Much inspiration comes while meditating, observing nature or the environment while passing through, or simply the feeling gotten upon meeting a new or old friend. My works flow from the heart, and a sense of space and color is abundant throughout.
